Calibration Wind Tunnel

Deutsche WindGuard’s wind tunnel in Varel, Germany, primarily serves as an anemometer calibration laboratory and for the development of special sensor systems that are often utilised in the wind energy industry.

For the evaluation of wind potential at possible sites for wind farms the use of calibrated anemometers is explicitly recommendd. For this purpose Deutsche WindGuard's Calibration Wind Tunnel is used, which is accepted by Deutsche Kalibrierdienst (DKD - Federal German Calibration Service) of the Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) and MEASNET (International Measuring Network of Wind Energy Institutes) for the accredited calibration of anemometers according DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005.

The Calibration Wind Tunnel in Varel has a marginal turbulence intensity of less than 0.2 %. Regarding the calibration of Anemometers higher accuracies as 0.1 m/s are reached.
